Sharing some fabulous family fun ideas, especially as the weather turns colder and for game day celebrations.

Chili night is a family favorite, especially come football season! It’s an easy way to entertain for game day or the Super Bowl!
Make a fun night of it and have the kids help prep the chili and then after dinner make s’mores. We also like to host chili cook-offs, where you devour more than one delicious bowl of chili!

These are my two fabulous favorite hearty chili recipes, the first is with ground beef, and the second is with ground turkey.
Hearty Chili Recipe
Ingredients: Serves 6-8
- 1 pound lean ground round beef
- 3-4 Drops Worcestershire Sauce
- 3 sliced and diced bell peppers or sweet bell peppers (green, orange & red)
- 2 cans kidney beans
- 1 can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1/2 cup water
- 5Â Aidells Chicken & Apple sausages sliced
- 1 can corn
- 1 teaspoon of pepper or to taste
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper or to taste
- 1 packet McCormick’s mild or medium chili powder
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon parsley
In a large skillet cook beef and add 3-4 drops of Worcestershire Sauce, drain accesses fat and add to large pot. Sauté chicken sausage and bell peppers in skillet and add basil, oregano and parsley. Cook on medium heat for 8 minutes or until lightly brown. Remove and add to large pot. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 25 to 30 minutes. Ready to serve with Frito Lays and cheddar cheese.

To make Hearty Turkey Chili substitute the ground beef and follow the directions.
S’more Kits
One of my favorites from childhood, S’mores and pairs perfectly with a chili night!
Make your own ready to go s’mores kit with these colorful robin’s egg blue paper crates that I got from the farmers market.Â
Instead of boring plan chocolate, use Reese Peanut Butter Cups. These kits are perfect for carrying all your s’more supplies outside and roasting them by the fire.
Kids of all ages enjoy the dessert making activity!

Oh my, I haven’t had S’more in quite some time. I remember my days in Girl Scouts and would have them quite frequently. Pair this delicious dessert with a hearty bowl of chili…mmmm couldn’t get too much better than that.
We now own a fireplace at our home and have been thinking of adding roasted marshmallow to our tradition. Thanks for sharing!
Would you believe I only had smores for the first time last year and I had never heard of it before then either. They were tasty though. Great to be co-hosting with you. Julie
