It’s that time of year again where top designers and bloggers race to the 6 week finish line to design a room in One Room Challenge.
Before we jump into my next room you might be wondering what is One Room Challenge (ORC)? ORC was created by Linda from Calling it Home, who is an extremely talented and creative designer. ORC has turned into a biannual event that takes over blog land with 20 interior designers selected by Linda to create or make over a room in their home or clients on Wednesday’s. Then you have additional designers, bloggers, and design enthusiasts such as myself join in the fun as linking participants reporting their updates on Thursday’s.
Earlier this week we reflected on past ORC’s. I was inspired to finish designing our master bedroom for my first ORC in Spring 2014 and updating my 3 year old daughter’s room in Operation Big Girl Room in Fall of 2014. You can get the details here.
Today my friends I’m finally taking the plunge and finishing my office for my 3rd round of ORC! We’ve been in our home 2 years, and this has been the last room in the house to finish. We moved in 4 weeks before I had my second daughter, so getting the kids bedrooms and eventually our bedroom in order was priority.
As an event design boutique company I want my office to show off my personality and display all my fun party supplies, while keeping me organized. Here’s my plan:
I already have the two Kallax storage units from Ikea, the mint garden stool, the chandelier, and campaign that I painted coral. I would like to replace my white bookcase with this gold one to store all my party supplies. I’ve been dying to get creative with these fun marque letters for Sarah Sofia Productions initials, SSP! I currently have pink and gold tissue paper garland, but would love to have some coral, mint and gold to add to the room! Have to have a few sea urchins as part of the décor and a wall gallery!

Here’s my to do list for Operation SSP Headquaters:
- Buy Ikea glass shelves, spray paint gold and add marble contact paper
- Buy desk or make current one more lux
- Buy coral office chair
- Finish coral campaign lacquered finish and replace brass hardware
- Gallery wall above coral campaign
- Accent wall above coral campaign with either removable wallpaper or stencil
Buy curtainsBuy rug- spray paint silver chandelier gold
- Buy small seating for vignette
- Gold bar cart for happy hour!! (Don’t get me started on the faux bamboo glam bar cart I passed up at HomeGoods last fall)
I recently bought this beautiful and plush gold and white chevron rug that is perfect for my office! This week I crossed off the curtains, but have to make sure the colors coordinate with the accent wall.
Next week I will have more photos of Operation SSP Headquaters in progress!
