It’s hard to believe we’re in week 3 of One Room Challenge, which means we’re already at the half way mark of this six week design challenge hosted by the talented Linda, Calling it Home.
If you’re just joining the fun you can get caught up on Week 1 || Week 2||. In week 1 I introduced you to my current event design office known as Sarah Sofia Productions and laid out my plan for transforming it into a glam office fit to inspire all my event design and planning! In week 2 I showed you more details of my office and the progress such as finding these glam accessories!
Â
As we round out week 3 I am feeling a litte anxious about finishing everything in time to be photographed. I have a ton of DIY projects for my glam office that are taking more time than anticipated. You’re probably scratching your head thinking Sarah it’s only week 3 you have 3 more weeks to go. Yet we have work or social obligations every weekend during this 5 week design challenge, including a conference out of town the last week of ORC. Yes, call me crazy…
That being said I was successful in the following DIY Glam projects this week: Painting existing picture frames gold, getting access paint off campaign hardware pulls (which could have set me back $60-$400 to replace), and Sarah Sofia Productions’ AKA SSP marque lights painted coral. I still need to put the finishing touches on the marque letters including the gold glam backs and lights.
After my second trip to HomeGoods this week I finally found the perfect photo board to place my design inspiration for current weddings and events. I’m playing around with the idea of adding gold and coral trim instead of the current grey.
Other fun finds from HomeGoods included different shape and size picture frames to finish my gallery wall. Here’s a sneak peek at my progress on the gallery wall and coral campaign minus the brass hardware and a few touch ups. I’m still trying to figure out how I can use the two bottom drawers of the campaign to store my files even though the dimensions wont work to have folders up right.
I had planned to show you my glam DIY bookcase and DIY gold painted scissors, but it’s rained everyday this week, which mean I hope to share it with you next week.
Here’s my running  to do list for Operation Sarah Sofia Productions (SSP) Headquaters:
- Buy Ikea glass shelves, spray paint gold and add marble contact paper
- Buy desk or make current one more lux
- Buy coral office chair
- Finish coral campaign lacquered finish, replace brass hardware & convert into filing cabinet
- Gallery wall above coral campaign – In Progress, need to finish placement
- Accent wall above coral campaign with either removable wallpaper or stencil – Running out of time and money.
Buy curtainsBuy rug- Paint silver chandelier gold
Buy small seating for vignette– No longer in my budget and don’t wont the room to look too cluttered.Gold bar cart for happy hour!! (Don’t get me started on the faux bamboo glam bar cart I passed up at HomeGoods last fall or the great looking pieces from Target!)-No longer in my budget and I have too many other long table top pieces that the design just won’t work.Accents for coral campaignNate Berkus gold dog tape dispenser- DIY spray paint gold scissors to match gold tape dispenser
Hang curtains (I’ve done this twice and it’s fallen down)Move hanging wire basket to wall behind the door and hang wall décorPaint existing picture framesand get new matting- Purchase SSP marquee metal light letters for gallery wall and get my DIY design on! – In Progress
- Decide on sunburst mirror to hang on current wall mirror – Rethinking this and might hang current framed art work and photographs instead

Halfway there!! It’s going to be awesome!
Traci, thank you for the encouragement! XOXO
Does the rain not understand that we have things to do? I’ve battled that this week too. Our forecasts have been more wrong than ever with rain on the no rain days and no rain on the certain rain days. It’s killing my planning. Love the SSP letters!
Melissa, I know seriously! We had a window of a few hours of no rain today, so I dashed outside for some paint jobs. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work my friend! XOXO
This is going to be such a fabulous space! I love all of your art!! I cannot believe we are half-way there… yikes! I cannot wait to see your end results!

Those letters are awesome! I love how you painted them. This room is really coming together! I am definitely going to be remembering some of these ideas for when I design my home office later this year. Thanks for being a part of Hump Day Happenings each week.
Jenna, thank you so much for your kind words and for stopping by! You should think about doing One Room Challenge in the fall and finish your home office in 6 weeks! Always enjoy your party!
