After a month of teasing you, I’m finally sharing this coral and robin’s egg blue big girl room reveal! I decided to finish this room along with my office, my other daughter’s big girl room from Fall 2014 One Room Challenge and our kitchen all during One Room Challenge spring 2015, which was an undertaking.
I have a love affair with coral and blue! I used the colors for my wedding, Sarah Sofia Productions logo, and most recently my glam office! However, I first was able to use it in home design for my daughter Charlotte’s nursery. You can get all the details of her nursery here and here, which I did 4 weeks before she was born, including the stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils!
While my daughter is only two and half, it was time to make this her room, a place to play and enjoy! First thing we did was transition her bed from crib to toddler bed and move the four poster queen size bed into her older sister’s new and improved big girl room. We have spacious bedroom, but it’s amazing how spacious and big the room feels just by making those two changes.
We moved the chalkboard table, wooden pink chair, and play kitchen from her sister’s room into her room, making it a place they can both play. It’s great to find them peacefully playing tea party, although sometimes short lived, for hours in Charlotte’s room!
Next up was to create a fun play space, aka hide out or reading nook. The fun and girly coral and gold teepee was the perfect décor item that arrived in time for her second birthday party! It has served dual roles as party décor in her Turning Two Tutu and Bow Tie Tea Party here, here, and here and as home décor!
Charlotte needed a simple storage solution for her growing toy and book collection. After trying different design arrangements we opted for a small square bookshelf from Ikea. I simply added coral and robin’s egg blue tin buckets and gold polka dot and pink box from to display blocks and other toys and bought a clear storage container from Ikea to finish the look.
The wall above the play kitchen needed some love and another wall gallery was added with a mix of wall art from Hobby Lobby and some made by Charlotte, a art display wall board for her other artwork, and updated photos. I also updated photos from the gallery wall next to the window and her dresser, but kept one a few newborn photos.
We redesigned to be more open by moving the toddler bed and the three mirrors to the back stencil wall and the dresser and wall art against the stencil wall near the window.
Here are the finishing touches!
If you love this room as much as I do you have to check out Charlotte’s first birthday party based on her nursery theme, coral, robin’s egg blue and elephants here and here! Logan, thank you so much for your kind words! The stencil wall was probably the most time consuming but the most rewarding and major impact to the room. I have to say I wish I had a teepee to play in. 🙂

Thank you so much Stephanie for your kind words! If I had seen your teepee tutorial before I designed this room I would have taken a stab at a DIY teepee. 🙂
