Oh SNAP Let’s Decorate!
Inspired by red tartan plaid, buffalo check and gold this Gingerbread House Decorating Party has it all from ginger bread houses, sweet treats, and a hot chocolate bar!
When designing any event, I start with the invitation and try to coordinate it with the theme. These Oh SNAP! Invitations with a gingerbread man are perfect for any holiday decorating party and have coordinating gift tags that were used for the tartan plaid mugs.
I’ve always loved red and gold and mixing in buffalo check and tartan plaid makes this party festive and not too girly!
This party was a special day of fun for 3 sets of sisters, who are all friends. Edible Art Cake Shop hosts gingerbread classes every holiday season and tailored their class especially for our party size and ages.
Frozen songs played in the background as the girls decorated their pre-constructed gingerbread houses wearing tutu and Santa Clause Christmas aprons.
A few girls even tasted the yummy decorations!
Once everyone finished designing their gingerbread house it was time enjoy sweet treats, which included cake pops, petite fours, chocolate truffles, gingerbread house cookies, sugar cookies with gingerbread men and Christmas trees, and Edible Art Cake Shop’s signature decorative cake, which is made out of pound cake!
At each place setting was a glitter crown for the girls to wear and a cake favor. Since this is a kids party we opted for a more casual look with personalized paper napkins and melamine chargers and plates.
Milk was served in Santa glassware with red and gold Christmas paper straws, which had Catch Me If You Can straw flags.
There was also a hot chocolate bar with mini marshmallows and candy cane bark.
Each guest got to take home a mug, in addition to their mini cake party favor and glitter crown!
The girls had a ball from decorating their gingerbread houses to singing and dancing, no one wanted the fun to end! As guests got ready to go they placed their decorated gingerbread house in cute blue polka dot gable boxes to easily carry them home.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match festive homedecor items when planning a holiday party! We used Christmas personalized ornaments, pillows and a blue herringbone throw to add a warm and personal touch.
Also, Christmas is the one time of year where you can showcase your Christmas cards, so make sure you put them on display for everyone to enjoy! Additionally, easy seasonal plants and flowers make the best flower arrangements and add a pop of color.
Another party planning tip is use what you have and buy a few new items to make your party stand out! Can’t find the right color garland to add to you event design? Go ahead and design it yourself! We found the banner for the hot chocolate bar in the tartan plaid we liked, but you can cut out the shape and trace it on any colored paper or wrapping paper to make a beautiful and unique banner!
