WOW, it’s week 3 of the 6 week design challenge known as One Room Challenge! Yes, this is the half way point, which always makes me a little nervous when things are far from complete!
If you’re just joining us you can get caught up here: Week 1| Week 2|
In Week 1 I provided you with our plan, inspiration boards, and some inspiration on how we are going to refresh our guest bath and master bath.
I came across this beautiful bathroom inspiration via Wayfair by designer Natalie Myers when searching for inexpensive bathroom fixtures and hardware. I’m loving the wallpaper and gold accents!
In Week 2 I provided you my progress, including photos of wallpaper and bathroom fixtures.
In Week 3, it’s all about crunching numbers and making sure we meet the deadline!
A few months ago I designed this mood board for an e-client and while we’re looking for a more coastal feel with gold touches, I am loving the tile choices!

Speaking of tile choices, I met with Anthony, Infinity Tile, today and got an estimate for our guest/kids bathroom tile work on the shower/bath tub combo. We’re right about at the price point I expected, which is part of the reason we held off on finishing the tile work last ORC round. I love the look of white subway tile, but went with white tile with grey specs that looks like marble, Marmi Blanco White 4 in. x 16 in. Glazed Ceramic Wall Tile, from Home Depot.
We’re going to take the tile all the way up to the ceiling and add a niche box for shampoo and soap. Even better news is that Anonthy can start work on the bathroom on Monday!
Of course with any project you do you always want to do more than a refresh…remember we’re also refreshing our master bathroom. We’ve already invested in a new toilet, towel rack, hardward for cabinets to make it look custom, but now I am thinking how wonderful it would be to have a spa like shower, which is definitely not part of our plan or budget! I’d love to use the Glazed Ceramic Herringbone Mosaic Tile from Home Depot for the walls and Greecuab White Hexagon Mosaic Tile from Home Depot for the floor and niche box, as seen in mood board.
I also purchased this toilet paper holder from Wayfair for our master bathroom. I had wanted to match the towel rack from Pottery Barn, but since it will take over 4 weeks to arrive, I had to find something similar.
Oh, and I also bought this for our backyard from Wayfair!
Did I mention we’re in the middle of re-painting the exterior of our house and finishing the landscaping? Yes, lots of projects all at once!
Remember, I still need the handyman to come back next Friday, April 28th to install the wall scones that he didn’t get to last week.

Hey Rajni, you’re so kind thank you! If budget wasn’t an issue and time I could have had this done last fall. However, I am so excited about how everything is coming together! XOXO, Sarah
Vanessa - Decor Happy says
Love your tile choices especially the hexagon one. Can’t wait to see both bathrooms come together! PS It’s niche, not “nitch box” – just thought you may want to know for future posts. 🙂
