Coral and blue were our wedding colors and I’ve wanted to decorate a room in these colors for sometime. We recently moved into a new home and with the arrival of our second daughter any day I finally have a room I can decorate in coral and robin’s egg blue!
Besides my love of the colors, my inspiration for this room stemmed from the coral sculpture that is displayed on the dresser, a mixture of girl nursery’s on Project Nursery, Rabat Allover wall Stencil, and the floral yet whimsical rug that ties both the coral and blue together.
The wall stencil is the main focal point and took me over 7 hours to paint. The walls were painted in a darker Robin’s Egg Blue, and then I stenciled the Rabat Allover, in a lighter Robin’s Egg Blue to get the effect. I had planned to do juts one accent wall, but decided I needed two, one to place the dresser and the other for the crib and mirrors.
Continuing the shabby chic, eclectic, vintage look that I used for my daughter Sofia’s nursery, I found the perfect repainted antique dresser by Lisa Phillips, to serve as one of the focal points of the nursery.
The other focal point will be the white crib place against the other stenciled accent wall. Since my daughters will be 18 months apart, I decided to buy the same crib, Pottery Barn Kid’s Catalina. Above the crib I plan to have two painted coral mirrors that resemble the shape of the stencil and flank a larger square antique looking white mirror that I found at Southern Marketplace.
I have moved my daughter Sofia’s glider into the nursery, which is light green and picks up accent colors in the rug. I’m reusing a blue lamp we had in our guest room as well as Sofia’s changing table, no reason to reinvent the wheel when you have accessories and furniture that will fit with your nursery.
I had two childhood rocking chairs that I repainted for my daughters, the one pictured here with my daughter Sofia sitting in it, is spray painted in Robin’s Egg Blue.
Coral accessories, bedding, and white crib will provide just enough pop to bring the entire room together.
The bedding and crib arrive this week and I’m busy putting the finishing touches on the nursery. Look for another blog post soon with the nursery all pulled together!
Here’s a photo of the room from the previous owners before we moved:
