This year we went all out for Halloween and my kids loved all the fun DIY décor and sweet treats, like these easy Halloween Candy Apple Monsters!
This was the perfect family activity to make good use of all our apples we had just picked! I wasn’t sure how time intensive this would be, but it really is easy to make these Halloween Monster Candy Apples in a few steps.
First here’s what you’ll need:
- 6-8 apples
- Candy melts (caramel apple)
- Candy corn
- Chocolate branches or pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate
- Monster eye balls
- Candy apple cups
- Colored sprinkles
Step 1: Open 1 candy melts of your choice and place in microwave safe bowl. Heat candy melts at 40% power or defrost setting for 1 minute. Stir thoroughly. Continue to heat and stir at 30-second intervals until smooth and completely melted.
Step 2: Take spatula and spread melted candy melt on apple.
Step 3: Place each candy apple in a paper cup
Step 4: Remove stems from all apples
Step 5: Place monster eye balls and candy corn onto candy apples. If the candy has already dried you can apply more candy melt to secure the eyes and candy corn.
Step 6: Add the chocolate branches to the center of the candy apples. If the candy has already dried you can apply more candy melt to secure the chocolate branches.
We like the googley eyes for our Halloween Candy Apple Monsters, but you can also use edible eyes if you prefer. Either way, this is a fun treat that everyone will enjoy!
