It’s officially November and time to plan for Thanksgiving and gobble gobble ’til you wobble!
I’ve always enjoyed entertaining and bringing people together to celebrate in style, which is why I was thrilled to collaborate with Tiny Prints again on this Friendsgiving styled shoot along with Pottery Barn, Passion 8, Charlotte Lately, JL Design Co, Loray Mill and Creative Event Solutions!
Today, I am sharing the inspiration behind this Chic Non Traditional Friendgiving! I remember the first year out of college and having a friendsgiving with my DC friends before traveling back to Ohio to be with my family. Everyone brought a dish, dressed up, and enjoyed gathering together to celebrate all our blessings!
While I love the idea of everyone bringing their own dishes and sharing them at a Friendsgiving, the inspiration behind this boho chic Friendsgiving has a twist on traditional Thanksgiving dishes and décor, such as gold foil pumpkins, white pumpkins with calligraphy, and carved out mini pumpkins to serve squash soup.
I enjoy making a baked brie, apple and cranberry appetizer for the holidays and love the idea of making this part of the meal along with other tapas to share with your guests instead of your traditional family style Thanksgiving. This French inspired baked brie figs and pistachios looks amazing!
As an event planner and designer my inspiration starts with the invitation. Tiny Prints’ Thanksgiving invitation selection is fun, chic, and modern. When I saw this eggplant colored invitation with gold foil leaves and the word thankful in calligraphy I knew this was the invitation I would base my entire Friendsgiving design around!
Gold is still trending in event design as is purple, especially for fall events and weddings. I love using non traditional Thanksgiving colors, which keeps your design fresh and interesting. This invitation reminded me of my glam eggplants and pumpkin DIY décor from a few years ago for Thanksgiving.
I love the matching menu card, but decided to go with the dark blue color instead.
Both colors work well together and coordinate the theme of this boho chic Friendsgiving! I even picked out the matching return address labels in the same color as the menu to give the guests a sneak peek of what is to come!
When I entertain I enjoy personalizing the experience, which makes any event or dinner party unique and stylish! I’m loving Tiny Prints’ personalized napkin selection and these Cheers Y’all gold foil personalized napkins with your monogram are perfect to serve up your favorite cocktail for Thanksgiving!
Instead of using your traditional table runner or table linen, try using craft paper or card stock (as seen above), which is stylish not only for the kids table but the adults table top design!
In keeping with making this an intimate and personalized experience for your guests, try using simple florals and candles like the one in this tablescape.
Mix and match your candles and candle holders. I am loving the selection from Pottery Barn right now, especially their Arlington Collection!
Don’t have fancy china to serve your guests for Friendsgiving? Don’t sweat it because basic white with a touch of gold either from the charger or napkin rings take your everyday dinnerware to chic, festive and modern!
I love the idea of mixing and matching your dinnerware and serving dessert or appetizers on different set of plates like these from Pottery Barn.
