It’s Week 3 of One Room Challenge Bathrooms Refresh!
If you’re just joining the fun you can get caught up here: Week 1 | Week 2.
In Week 1 I provided my plan and inspiration.
In Week 2 I provided two inspiration boards, one for the guest bath and one for the master bath refresh.
In Week 3 we are at the half way point in the 6 week challenge, or for me one week left to finish everything before photos! Everything I order has arrived. We removed the large wall mirror and wallpaper that was underneath it in the guest bath. The guest bath also got the new sink, shower head and matching faucet in bathtub installed!
If you’ve been following my Instagram stories then you know I also found the perfect around mirror!
The master bath got the new white and modern toilet installed!
You might notice the duct tape in the bathtub in the guest bath. To install the new faucet we had to remove the tile and this is the temporary solution until we can re-tile the bath. Tile was not in our budget + labor costs. As it stands now we are already at $2,000 for both bathrooms., which is way over budget. The tile in the guest bath is not my favorite and it’s really hard to match. The dilemma is do we stop and wait a few months until we can get the white subway tile that we’d love to put in, or do we take the plunge and put another $1,000 into this refresh for all new tile and labor? Not to mention time. We need to finish this in the next week as we will not be in town for the last week of the 6 week challenge.
Another challenge I faced this week was getting the brass wall scones installed in the guest bath and the wallpaper. I had an electrician come out and give an estimate but it took him the entire week to check it out. Then he was unable to do the job within a week. I do have a few more resources, but finding an electrician is costly and time consuming and time is running out.

It’s coming together Sarah! I love all the brass/gold prettiness. There are always setbacks with trades unfortunately – mine has been with plumbers! Can’t wait to see the final results.
Sarah Sofia Knepp says
Thank you Vanessa I needed to hear this! UGH! We lucked out with the plumber after having $6500 worth of damage by AT&T contractors to our property this summer, so I’ve actually saved some money, but feel your pain. Let’s do this! XOXO, Sarah
Anna says
I think that’s the same Kohler toilet we have in both bathrooms. Great work so far!
Sarah Sofia Knepp says
Hey Anna, Thank you so much for stopping by and your kind words! No way?! When I was doing my research it had a lot of high rated reviews and love how it looks in the bathroom! Of course now that we have modern bathroom fixtures we are advised to invest in modern water filters for $2K! Always something else. XOXO, Sarah

I love all of your gold glam you are adding-this is going to look so great! I’m tackling my bathroom for ORC too, but wish I had about 100 baths so I could do them all differently, so I will just have to live through all of your makeovers too and drool over them 🙂 Can’t wait to see your end look! Best of luck!

Rajni, you’re too kind my friend! Thank you for being one of my biggest cheerleaders, which means a lot coming from such a talented designer! I really wanted to make this one work but should have known it was just too much with all that I had going on. Maybe I’ll finish it in the Spring?
XOXO,
Sarah
