It’s week 6 of One Room Challenge Bathroom Refresh hosted by Linda from Calling It Home, which means we it’s reveal day!
As many of you know this is our 7th ORC, and 8th & 9th rooms, which we started last fall but for the first time didn’t finish in the 6 weeks. Thus, we decided to come back strong this spring to refresh not one but two bathrooms in our 1970’s ranch home! Not to mention refreshing our master bedroom a little along with our two girls, and in the process of exterior refresh from new paint to landscaping.
If you’re just joining us you can you can see the process from Week 1 until now here: Week 1| Week 2| Week 3| Week 4|Week 5|
It all started last fall with our guest/kids bathroom. The vision was to refresh the space with new bathroom fixtures, hardware, removable wallpaper and a little white paint (Sherwin Williams Pure White 7005) to brighten up this bathroom with no windows. However, once we installed new shower fixtures we soon realized we needed to go ahead and retile the entire shower/bath.
Maintaining the coastal inspired style of our home and the dual purpose of this bathroom (guest and kids bath), we decided on distressed wood removalable wallpaper, agate stone wall décor and accessories, like this ring holder box, gold bath accessories, white crowned quartz gold foil knobs and gold steel bar pulls. We replaced the wall to wall mirror with a gold round mirror and two brass wall sconces, which make this room look bigger.
I wanted a chic yet kid friendly vibe in this dual purpose bathroom, which is reflected in the wall art. One of the first pieces of art that inspired this room was the North Carolina watercolor print “Carolina on my mind” from Deanna Mirabelle Creations! I knew I had to finish this bathroom so I could finally display this piece! I made this wood plank sign last fall at Anders Ruff Workshop, which has two of my favorite colors (coral and blue). I knew as soon as I saw these sunburst agate stone wall décor pieces I had to have them for the guest bath, which adds a coastal and glam feel and ties in with the hardware and pulls.
Another favorite find are my new blue and white handwoven Turkish hand towels from Olive and Linen! Make sure you check out my 7 Thoughtful Mother’s Day Gift Ideas, which includes a 30% discount code on all orders from Olive and Linen!
For those of you that have been following our bathroom progress since the beginning, then you know we are thrilled to have this shower and bath tub tile completed, which was not part of the original refresh design plan back in the fall. The tile is white with grey veins, which pulls out the grey in tile on the floors and countertop.
Now for the our Master Bathroom Reveal!
Last fall we started refreshing our master bathroom, which is partly open to our master bedroom, by making it more modern, chic and flow better with our master bedroom. We added fresh white paint, gold steel pulls, and Anthropologie Druzy Quartz Knobs for a custom look on a budget! The Druzy Quartz Knobs have blue and white and vary in color, which tie in the blue and white and coastal style of the bathroom.
One of my favorite purchases in this bathroom is the Aerial muted flourish blue and white rug, which we also bought for our master bedroom! Only down side is I bought the smallest size for the bathroom and we’ll need to cut it down to fit.
I had the white vase from our family shelves and decided it was the perfect pop of white against the grey blue tile. I found my blue and white turtle while thrifting and took it from my living room for a ring holder. I’ve said it many times from home décor to events, shop your own home and you’ll be surprise what you find for free!
We’ve had this antique gold tray in our bathroom for a few years but decided to move it up and place the floral arrangement against the mirror. This is perfect tray for his and her perfume, cologne, and shared bathroom necessities.
If you know me then you know I love blue and white and a pop of color! Blue and white is weaved through out our home and I wanted to bring into our bathroom by adding simple pieces. The blue and white glass balls I’ve had in our living room and styled them in this new gold coral bowl I found on sale at Hobby Lobby. Adding an a pink orchid is just the right pop of color needed in this bathroom!
I absolutely love how the Indigo sea life prints from BelleMerGraphics look in our bathroom! I moved the framed sea shells to the other wall and we installed Pottery Barn Mercer Towel Bar in chrome finish to hang our Pottery Barn monogramed bath towels we received almost 8 years ago for a wedding gift.
The white octopus was another great find on sale at Hobby Lobby and the sea urchin I bought a few years ago from Hobby Lobby and had in my office. However, the best gift I got last week was this beautiful blue and white garden stool from my mother in law, which fits perfectly in our bathroom!
The blue/grey tile has grown on me since moving into our home 4 years ago. Instead of replacing our countertops and floors with marble or quartz and re-tiling our master shower, we were able to refresh our entire mater bathroom for under $500! It’s amazing how simple and inexpensive new hardware, art, rug, and few home décor pieces can make your bathroom when you pull them all together!
Here’s a sneak peek at our master bedroom, and two daughter’s room that we also refreshed during One Room Challenge. I will share more with you soon!
