Today we’re sharing our outdoor makeover for summer as part of Outdoor Summer Tour hosted by Sue and Teri of Wool and Vine Design! If you’re coming from Uniquely Taylor Made, welcome! I just love Taylor’s beautiful outdoor space with the wood retaining wall and citrus decor perfect for summer!
After five and half years we finally have an outdoor space where we can relax and enjoy time with family and friends!
First we took out all the ivy in the back, side and front yard. A year later when the ivy had fallen from the trees we cut down 19 (mostly dead) and filled in the large dirt hole with rocks.
Over the years we have been able to seed and finally grow lush grass, plant some flowers, plants and shrubs, and add patio furniture.
Last September we painted our house and deck, added a DIY paver patio, and DIY fire pit sitting area. Here’s what it looks like now.
We love entertaining, from casual last mintue dinner parties, cocktails on the deck, making s’mores, or hosting book club! Adding string of lights, potted flowers, flower arrangements, candles, lanterns, decorate and personalized pillows and summer throw is an easy way to refresh an outdoor space.
Our outdoor space is always a work in progress. Depending on our needs we like to rotate our furniture. One of my best purchases this summer is this blue bar cart with wheels, which is perfect on the deck, patio or fire pit area. Our next phase is to add a built in gas grill and bar, more landscaping, and an iron fence in the side yard to replace the wooden fence we tore down a few years ago.
