DIY Luxe Christmas Garland for less with these budget friendly finds and easy tutorial. I’ve been eyeing a luxe and colorful Christmas garland for a few years, and finally found budget friendly pieces to make my own.
Where and When to Shop for Budget Friendly Christmas Decor
The colorful ornament garland I found on sale at JoAnn Fabrics at the beginning of November, but was marked down 50% the week before Thanksgiving.
Also, the oversized bows were a must, but also found smaller ones at the Dollar Tree. The Dollar Tree is one of my favorite spots for budget friendly decor and crafts, and the gold bells I found were perfect addtion to the garland! I just took off the holly and bow.
Michale’s was also having 50% off garland and Christmas decor the week before Thanksgiving, which is where grabbed the rest of the decor including the large ornaments.
What You’ll Need to Make This Luxe and Colorful Christmas Garland
- 5-6 Colorful Christmas Ornament Garlands
- 4-5 Greenery Garnland
- 10 Oversized Ornaments
- Christmas Garland Ties
- 3 Gold Bells
- 2 Oversized Bows
- 1 hanging rod
How to Make Luxe Christmas Garland in 5 Easy Steps
First, layout your design. I had planned to have 6 Colorful Christmas Ornament Garlands, but I never received the last one from JoAnn’s, so I went with 5. Layer the colorful garland first, one in the center, and one on each side. Then add the greenery garland, and another colorful garland layer on the outside. The big oversized bows should go in the upper right and left hand corner. Then alternate colors and patterns of your oversized ornaments down each side of the garland.
Next step is to secure the garland, bows, ornaments and bells with Christmas garland ties.
You will need to sting the garland ties through the ornaments top and then tie. This is easier and more secure for outside than using hot glue.
Add a tension rod or the viral shower rod to your doorframe. Final step is to secure the Luxe Christmas Garland for Less to the tension rod with addtional garland ties. Since I used a tension rod I did this step after I hung the tension rod, but you could also secure before adding tension rod/shower rod to door frame and then hang it all together.
I absolutely love how bright and colorful this DIY Luxe Christmas Garland looks, especially at night!
